Where? Rawson Village - we saw the video last week and the place looks so big and GOOOOD!
When? 22-25 April! Well as Nicola said...she alr told u guys so long ago so u have no excuse of saying u didnt have enough notice! and it will be during the holiday so no excuses such as "I need to study"

OCF CLAYTON ON WEEK 6 SAYS, "HARROW BARROW MASHIMARO...!!!" :)

HARROW BARROW MASHIMARO...!!!

It's that time of the week again! Time to be updated of everything OCF has planned for all of u this week! Ain't it oh-so exciting?? And this week is going to be just that much more exciting because there are some new things happening this week!

But firstly, on a more serious note:
How ARE all of you doing? Everyone coping well? It IS already Week 6, and this is when all the work starts piling up to our eyebrows. But know this: GOD IS, HAS ALWAYS BEEN AND WILL ALWAYS BE OUR STRENGTH. Psalms 18:32 says, "It is God who arms me with strength and makes my way perfect." Amen? And even as much as we can be so overwhelmed by all the things that we have to do, I want to challenge you guys to just STOP, LOOK, and LISTEN. No...Not for the oncoming traffic (Well, actually, ALSO for oncoming traffic), but to stop, take a breath and step back from everything you need to do, look to God and seek Him on what He has planned for you for the week, and listen to what He tells you. You'll be surprised as to how much more refreshed you will feel after you do that. Try it!

Cool beans!

As for OCF this week...Here are some things that you need to know!
________________________________________

1. GUYS/GIRLS NIGHT
This week, OCF will not be the usual at its usual place in R3, because it's the much awaited, and much anticipated GUYS & GIRLS NIGHT! No...It's not some kind of dodgy night of speed-dating, but it's a night where the guys will be doing their own thing, and the girls will be doing our own much-more-exciting-event-that-will-totally-knock-the-socks-off-guys-night thing! Does it sound exciting? You want to know why? COS.IT.IS.

For the DUDES:
The guys will be playing a game of TOUCH RUGBY, followed by an awesome time of bonding over dinner and ending the night with a DVD on a VERY interesting topic. You guys WON'T WANT TO MISS OUT ON THIS.

An important note, though: Due to daylight savings, Guys' Night has been pushed forward to 5PM, where you'll be meeting everyone at CARLSON AVENUE RESERVE (Map: http://maps.google.com.au/maps?q=hilltop+avenue&um=1&ie=UTF-8&sa=N&hl=en&tab=wl)

For more information, visit their FB page: http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=207639065929667, and please don't forget to RSVP as well! :)

For the CHICKAS:
The girls, on the other hand, will be coming together to watch a movie, along with a pizza dinner and dessert of homemade brownies and ice-cream! Not only that, we will also be heading to the nearby park after for a little semi-midnight picnic, where we can just lay there together, discussing and laughing over girlie issues. So, BRING YOUR CURIOUSITY CAPS ALONG, GIRLS!

Again, for more information, check out: http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=103527769731294 :)
........................................................................

2. WORSHIP TEAM MEETING
Firstly, thank you all so much for responding to HANDS UP! over the last couple of weeks! For the current worship team members, and for the people who've responded to volunteer in this ministry, check your emails! Cos you would've received an email from Kenneth about this Worship Team Meeting that I'm going on about. It will be:

When? This Thursday (7th April 2011)
Where? R6, Clayton Campus
What time? 7pm-10pm

This is where the worship team can come together to get ourselves focused and geared up for worship, and to just spend some time jamming together as a worship team. Be there!
........................................................................

3. EASTER CAMP 2011
EASTER CAMP is just around the corner! Easter Camp is a time where OCF Victoria can gather together and spend 4 days together, and just spend some time away from the world to remember what Easter is all about. Not to mention all the people we'll meet from UniMelb, Swineburn, Caulfield, etc. etc. It will really be an awesome time soaking in His presence.

Sign up now, because early bird ends this week (7 April '11). If you're interested to sign up, you contact Nicola at 0459 278 406 or drop her an email at sixfeetjump@hotmail.com. Also! Order a T-Shirt for yourself now. It is $18 if you buy it at camp, but it is $15 if you order now! So, we all know what we need to do about this, don't we?!
........................................................................

4. MID-WEEK PRAYER
Mid-Week Prayer is on as usual at:

When? Every Tuesday
Where? Piano Room 1, Campus Centre
What time? 3pm-4pm

Let's come together to just spend time soaking in prayer. See u there!
________________________________________

So, that's all from me for today. I believe that I've gone on for long enough. You guys continue to have a great week ahead. And remember! Don't forget to STOP, LOOK, and LISTEN. To the ladies, I'll see you on Friday. And to the guys, don't hurt yourselves!!

In HIS love,
Jo :) xx

Calvin says: Who loves Jesus? I know I do \m/

Hello Bruders & Sistahs,
I will be concise and straight to the point, so please give this a read okay!!

It is week 8, and we've come a long way through the semester, and we're almost there. But let's not just persevere on, let's embrace what's coming with God's help!

In line with being a true worshipper of Christ, we should also remind ourselves that we worship an Almighty and Powerful God. So let us go forth with that confidenceand that spirit of excellence in whatever we do.

Let us also recognize and prioritize the right things in our lives (God, studies, family, etc..) and note that God wants us to give our best in everything we do.

SO people, don't slack/bum but spend our time wisely and come all excited this friday for;

OCF meeting from 7pm-10:30pm @ Rotunda 3 [Bible study 4]

- Do come earlier to join us in prayer at 6.30pm! > Remember the importance and power in prayer =)

See you guys!

English Studio: Patience (忍耐) Rěnnài

Hey there!

Here's a preview of this Friday's session:

Patience (忍耐) Rěnnài

Accommodating other people’s needs, not being easily upset.

When everything is going our way, patience is easy to demonstrate. The true test of patience comes when our rights are violated— when another car cuts us off in traffic; when we are treated unfairly; when our group members do not do their part.

Proverbs 15:18 – "A hot-tempered man stirs up dissension, but a patient man calms a quarrel."

The word translated “patience” in this verse means “endurance.” A Christian runs the race patiently by persevering through difficulties. In the Bible, patience is persevering towards a goal, enduring trials, or expectantly waiting for a promise to be fulfilled.

Hope to see you,

13 August (Friday), 6 - 7.30pm
Rotunda 6 (Monash Uni Clayton, Building 8 – between Menzies and Matheson library)

You may be tired out from the assignments you've had to do the past two weeks, but come and be refreshed among friends! Don't worry about transport back home – we'll provide if it's necessary.

Week 5 doom and gloom?!!

hey guys, its week 5 already, mid sems and assignments must be starting to pile up or are looming ahead right? oh no doom and gloom!!!

but wait there is something to look forward to... OCF this friday! we going to have our Bible Study 2! It's been a bit hectic these past few weeks with many activities and more, so it'll be good to have a chance to sit down and study God's word again... and of course be able to gather as a cell group and have fun again.

So this week, I'd like to take some time out to just reflect a little on obedience. Our theme for OCF Clayton this year is Truly LOUD, as true worshipers of God. In light of that, the question is what does a true worshiper of God do? Having just come from LTC on Sunday, I'm going to draw inspiration from Aunty Merrilyn, who you would remember came down last week on friday, and talk a little about David. Now I'm going to assume most of us would agree that David was a true worshiper of God, being called a man after God's own heart, so what did David do that God would call him that? It says in Acts 10v22 that David was a man after God's own heart because he would do everything that God wanted him to. In other words, David obeyed God.

So obedience is important in a true worshiper of God, but what exactly is obedience? Obedience is listening to what God wants you to do and then DOing it. The important thing to note here is that obedience isn't doing what you originally wanted to do anyway, that is called acceptance, but being obedient is about doing something even though we really really don't want to do it. The Bible says that Jesus was obedient even unto death, and he certainly didnt want to die on the cross.

Then the next question is, why should we obey? Do we obey out of fear? Fear of punishment and the consequences of our sin? You could do that, but it won't last very long, because since real obedience calls for us to do things we don't like, eventually our desire to do the things we want will outweigh our fear of retribution. Obedience therefore needs to flow from our love of God. We need to love God more than we love ourselves, because only then will we really obey Him and become true worshipers.

So for those that have A.D.D. and just skimmed that whole chunk, here's the important bit, Obedience flows from Love; LOVE---->OBEY (and you guys thought we arbitrarily chose the theme to have a clever acronym...)

Anyways once again for this week

Bible Study 2! This Friday! 7pm @ R3! 630pm prayer also @ R3!

Life.Love; The Night of performances, food and friends @ Dining Hall, Campus center level 1 on 26 Aug (just next week! have you invited your friends?)

Tuesday Prayer 1pm @ piano room 1, under Campus center.

That's all from me, hope to see you guys on Friday!

hey guys, its week 5 already, mid sems and assignments must be starting to pile up or are looming ahead right? oh no doom and gloom!!!

but wait there is something to look forward to...

What's up!

Hello folks!

First off, we want to welcome our newbies! *claps and cheers* Was great seeing you all last Friday at OCF! About a third of us were new that night! It was good having us all back in the Rotunda together (:

OCF THIS FRIDAY :: 7PM @ ROTUNDA 3

This week, we're starting Bible Study on the book of Hebrews. I love the Bible because it is God's Word; when humbly studied and applied, it has the power to transform lives; as it has mine. For a head start, dig into Hebrews 1 and 2.

6pm – Feel free to join for English Studio; last week's first session went really well! Come for a look-see and get excited with what God is doing!

6.30pm – Join to pray; it's not scary + God works!

7pm – OCF begins with fellowship and finger food time!

MENTORS FOR NEW CHRISTIANS TRAINING :: TONIGHT!

OCF Clayton is looking forward to seeing more come to Christ this semester! In preparation for that, there will be a once off training session for those interested in guiding new christians in their faith!

Tuesday 27 July // 7.30 - 9.30pm // 1/24 Myriong St (Lynette's house)

Queries? Interested? Contact Calvin – 0430 428 810

We'll be looking through the popular My Christian Journey by Discover Church. Even if you are not able to commit to this, you can still come and learn – it'll be useful!

THE NIGHT :: 20 AUG

The committee has met and are very excited! As publicised last Friday, we are called to GO FORTH.

This is an evangelistic event. Bear in mind our focus to do "intentional community-based outreach". Who can we invite? Start thinking and praying!

-

On Sunday, the leaders gathered for a retreat and... I AM EXCITED! It's going to be busy sem – apart from Friday meets, we have The Night, Mission trip to Northern Territory, English Studio and so on. Challenging, but possible, and even more will we experience the greatness of our God and have our faith raised to new levels.

Let us UNITE together towards God's purposes, in FAITH.
We walk by faith and not by sight (:

In everything, let us remember that we do it all out of LOVE.
Love God + love man. Love love love. It makes the world go round.
And where did it first begin? With God. We love because He first loved us (1 John 4:19).
We have reason and empowerment to love.

May your week be one where you are so so aware that God. loves. you. so very much.

<3, Faith (:
