Smelly cat, smelly cat...WHAT ARE THEY FEEDING YOUUUUU...???!!!!

HELLOWS BUFFALOWS!

How's your week peeps? I won't be surprised if this is the FIRST OCF email you'll be reading, but seriously, you should read up mans! OCF has so much in store for you! ( well, to be precise, the Man up there has alot in store for you!) Who agrees it was UBER cold the whole week especially yesterday night?! Buy more fleece blanket, certainly helps! :D So what's happening at OCF this week? ...*drum rolls*...

1. E-Night!!!!!

Date: 2nd Sept 2011 (this Friday)
Time: 6:30-10:00pm
Venue: Grain Express, Campus Centre

Instead of our normal OCF meet this week, OCF will combine effort with UCC (united cross campus) in putting up performances and more!
Since it's an evangelistic night, how then can you make full use of this event? Well, don't come alone, but BRING ONE FRIEND along! :) This is a very good opportunity for your friends to know the existence of God and also OCF!

Jesus did say that we should be fishers of men, so why not, for this coming E-night, take up this challenge and bring a friend, encourage a friend, and let's sow some seeds and let God work His wonders. After all, 'it only takes a spark to get the fire going'. (Lian, 2011)

Amen? :)
SO MAKE SURE I SEE YOUR FACES ON FRIDAE NIGHT YOW. (you can come up to me to say hi hehe)

2. Weekly Sports!

It's week 6 I know, I know. So what?! All the more you should spend more time sweating the 'stress' out of your body! Seriously, sports can be so refreshing okay (though I tend to feel super sleepy after sports, BUT I STILL LIKE SPORTING okay!) And the best part is OCFers are not only interested in one sport, but like...THREE! I bet there are more than just three, but...ANYWAYS, these are the PIC for each sport

Badminton
Usually on Mondays
Sam Choo 0433 329 297

Basketball
On Sundays?
Andrew Gan 0426 242 765

Futsal
If I'm not mistaken, it's on Saturday mornings. :)
Joewin 0435 560 777

3. Bible Study next week!

Next Friday (9th of Sept, 2011), we're going back to doing bible study, picking up from where we left off last week :) There's nothing better than having a discussion about His words. It'll be a good time to see the different perspectives that each of your cellies have! Just be free and open enough to share and at the time, receive from others :) Above all these, be ready and excited to read and hear what He, the Audience of One has to say, through the Bible!

Thanks for bearing with me! Congratulates you if you've read up to this part.. yeah this part.. hehe
Excited to see you guys this Friday! Meanwhile, keep yourselves warm and hydrated at all times!
*p/s: dont be deceived by the bright bright Sun out there, cos it's still so cold when I step out of the house! bbrrrr

In His overflowing love,
Eileneeeeeee

OCF 2011 Theme Verse:
"Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go."
- Joshua 1:9

OCF Happenings for the week yo!‏

HI EVERYONE!!! :)

Happenings for OCF during the week:

1. OCF weekly meeting
After taking a break for so long from our bible study, we're finally having it now!! excited much?? :D you get to meet your cell group members during bible study time and have intense discussions. Oh well, some less intense than others but you get the drift.

We'll be studying from the book of Romans (Romans 8:18-39) this Friday. It would be of great help to your beloved cell leaders if you could read it up first :)

2. Food for thought
Wondering what Christianity is all about? and...Who is Jesus??
Well, come join DG this Fri, not only will we be serving dinner AND dessert, we will also discuss on topics that are relevant to what's happening around us.

Details:

Venue: R3, and then proceed to Eilene's at 6/15 Arnott Street for DINNER!
Time: 7:00pm
TOPIC: Helping the Poor!

How'd you like to help the poor? What is the most beneficial way? How should we react to such situation?
Come contribute to our topic! :)

3. Sports
Yea the pressure is piling up. It's week 4 and so on. But oh well, you need to sweat it out too kay. Come for sports if you could. It's more for the social reasons too. Don't worry if you're not good at it. Just come along and hang out with OCF-ers. I'm sure you'll have a great time. These are the PIC for each sport.

Badminton
Usually on Mondays
Sam Choo 0433 329 297

Basketball
On Sundays?
Andrew Gan 0426 242 765

Futsal
If I'm not mistaken, it's on Saturday mornings. :)
Joewin 0435 560 777

4. E-night (You have one Friend request)

Have you ever wondered to yourself, as a Christian, should we be readily equip with the good news at all times? Should we be 'sowing the seed' even at the most unpredictable season of our lives? I find it really amazing and encouraging to see how God's love not only transforms the preacher but also the listener.

James 5:19-20
My brothers, if one of you should wander from the truth and someone should bring him back, remember this: Whoever turns a sinner from the error of his way will save him from death and cover over a multitude of sins.

As James said we are not only saving the life of our friends but we are also preventing them from sinning further.

Let's make this verse a challenge for all the OCF members and also the committees to bring a friend, we're not asking a lot, but just bring a friend whom you want God to touch.

Missionary work can start anywhere. Let's be a missionary to our friends, let missionary work start in our universities."

Jesus did say that we should be fishers of men, so why not, for this coming E-night, take up this challenge and bring a friend, encourage a friend, and let's sow some seeds and let God work His wonders. After all, 'it only takes a spark to get the fire going'.

Melbourne weather is just crazy ain't it? Just when we thought the pinnacle of winter was over, it smacks us again right in the face with another bout of ice-cold chills! *tears* But oh wells, because we have fellow Claytonites to share our warmth with one another! :D And again, another BIG SHOUT OUT to those who've joined us for the first or second time over the last two weeks!! It truly was fantastic having you with us! Looking forward to knowing each and every one of you more personally soon! And I hope Week 3 is treating everyone well. Remember to take care of your health, eat well and healthyand drink loads of fluids! It's getting cold, and the assignments will be pouring in soon. So, your health is very important, yeah?

And for those of you who are not aware what this email is, this is called the OCF CLAYTON E-WEEKLY, where we update all of you on what is happening for the rest of this week! Efficient, right? Haha. So, read all the way to the end so you will not miss out on what OCF Clayton has in store for you this wonderful week!

Oh! And to all the Singaporeans...HAPPY NATIONAL DAY!!!

So, here's what we have in store for you this week!

*****************************************************************************************************************************************************
1. NPMM Meeting
As most of you might already know, this month is NATIONAL PRAYER AND MISSION MONTH, and is observed by all the OCF centers from all over Australia. So, this Friday, OCF will not gather in Rotunda as usual, but instead will be joining with all the OCF centers in Victoria for a combined meeting in Swinburne University in the city! This is the time where we get to see the bigger picture of what OCF is actually about, and where we can find out more about missions work and spend time in prayer for the countries, other OCF centers as well as the missionaries OCF has been supporting over the years. There will be a panel of people heavily involved in missionary work all over the world, who will be available to answer any questions you may have in the field of missions, including Aunty Merrilyn, whom we have grown to know and love during her time with us last Friday!

When?: Friday, 12 Aug '11
Where?: Swinburne University
What time?: 6.45pm SHARP - 9.30pm

If transport if your concern, don't worry. Your cell leaders will contact you within the week. And if you do not have a cell, also do not worry, becauseSOMEONE will contact you during the week. So stay close to your phones! It will be an exciting time to spend together, where we can not only just bond as a center, but to also look beyond the little world of our center, and know the greater work that OCF as a whole has been involved in, and to also tap into the wealth of knowledge that will be available to us that night. So, see you there! :)

P/S Don't forget to print out the NPMM booklet, or else Isaac will whack you! :p A lot of effort was put into compiling it, so do bring it along with you, and we'll all go through the booklet together on Friday!

2. Sports!!
It's cold. We hardly sweat. All the toxins are stuck in our bodies! So, join us for sports! Haha. We have badminton, futsal and basketball lined up and organised. All you have to do is join us and have fun in fellowship and friendly competition with one another! For more information, these are the people you can contact! Let them know if you're interested, and they'll let you know when the next game is scheduled for! :)

Badminton
Usually on Mondays
Sam Choo 0433 329 297

Basketball
On Sundays?
Andrew Gan 0426 242 765

Futsal
No idea when cos he never invites me. =.= If I'm not mistaken, it's on Saturday mornings. :)
Joewin 0435 560 777

3. Missionary Me!
And here's a short word from your Missions Coordinator!

"This Saturday, Aunty Merrilyn will be talking about doing missions in everyday life. It's a cliche and yes, you've heard it many times before, about missions being at your doorstep and what not. But how often do we actually act on it? This talk will go very well together with OCF's theme for this semester - OUTREACH.

Missions isn't just for that missionary who is willing to give up the comfort of his/her home for somewhere distant. Missions isn't just for that person who has a full time calling. Mission is for US.

Hope that this will help us internalize the call for missions in our daily lives. :)"

So, do join us for this MISSIONARY ME! For those of us who attended the Outreach Training last Tuesday in R3, this is also part of your training for outreach. So, do join us as we learn together, yeah?

Date: Saturday, 13 Aug '11
Time: 12-2pm SHARP
Venue: R3, Rotunda

There will also be a Q&A session at 2pm over light refreshments where you can ask Aunty Merrilyn about anything you desire on the topic of missions. Let's really make full use and tap into the wealth of knowledge and experience that she has in the area. How often do we have someone with that much intense passion bottled into one person? It's rare. So, don't miss out!

4. Mid-Week Prayer
Mid-week prayer has also resumed for the semester! This semester, the focus on prayer will revolve around the idea of SPECIFICITY IN PRAYER. It's no longer about praying general and vague prayers, but to learn to pray for specific things. Again, prayer will also revolve around the theme of outreach, where we intentionally and specifically pray for people that God has impressed upon our hearts, and learn to seek God on what we should pray for for these people.

Just like what Aunty Merrilyn said last week, "Spend time in prayer so that we're in constant communication with Him, and so that we will know when He calls us to speak a specific word at a specific time, to the specific person."

Let's develop that lifestyle of prayer, amen? :)

When? Every Wednesday
Where? Prayer Room 1, Campus Center basement, under Meeting Point
What time? 3-4pm

Join us!

*****************************************************************************************************************************************************

Hmmmmm...I think I've gone on for long enough! It's super cold! I swear, my fingers are frozen solid. Brrrrrrrrr...But oh well! Have an awesome week ahead, all of you! Hope to bump into you guys in uni sometime. And remember to remain in close communion with Him, because we all know that that is what He desires. He wants to be in communion with us, so how can we ever say no, yeah?

See all of you at NPMM on Friday!!

Loads and loads of ,
Jo :)
