Sneak preview of week two

Hey beloved friends,

How are all of you doing? Hope we're all chugging along and getting some momentum already? It's good being back in Melbourne after 3 weeks of holidays in the Beautiful Land of Klang! Nice fresh air, good roads without potholes, polite citizens.. But but BUT, above and beyond all, it's good to be back in the warm fellowship of the OCF Family. =) If you agree say Amen! *Amen*

SNEAK PREVIEW OF WEEK TWO

OCF PRAYER - Wednesday, 11.30 - 12.30 pm, Piano Room (Campus Centre Basement)
Let's be people who cover our friends in prayer. Jesus said, "Ask and it shall be given, seek and you shall find, knock and the door shall be opened unto you". Wanna receive? Ask. Want a direction? Seek. And let's get together to do just that!

OCF on FRIDAY - 7.00 pm, Rotunda 3
We're starting our first Bible Study on Ephesians this week! Woo hoo! Hop on for an amazing journey of discovery of what God has to say to each one of us through this letter. For those with pre-believer friends, please do bring them along too! DG is always here to make them feel welcomed and loved.

That's for this week. but we're looking forward to an AWESOME semester ahead together - marching into it ready to claim God's promises for us! In the words of God for Joshua,
"Have I not commanded you?
Be strong and courageous.
Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged,
for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go."
(Joshua 1:9)

See you bright and early!
Stay awesome,
ivie

Yes guys, there's OCF this Friday!

Hello awesome possums!

Okay you all are not possums, but er... yeaaa. Anyway yes hello (:

Just a reminder that OCF starts this Friday! Yes THIS Friday - tell all your fellow OCFers, especially the blur-er ones! Heh. It's welcome night and there'll be light dinner-ish after OCF (does that make it supper? But it's a heavy supper? Depending on what your dinner/supper is usually like ^_- ) .

Do bring friends to join in the fellowship and fun. As OCF, we endeavour to reach out, build up and send back, and here is one opportunity to reach out. We don't want to be in our own "little corner of the world" with only Christian friends, but we want to live lives that shine - and who else will they shine to, but to those who are "in the dark"?

As we meet new friends in new classes, let us not be afraid to mention OCF - you never know what their response might be. It being the start of the sem, people are sometimes more open to "new" things. Just be bold for Christ! And wait and see how God can and will honour those who honour Him (:

So it's this Friday, 7pm at R3. Do join for prayer at 6.20pm before that if you can.

Also, if you happen to be free tomorrow (Wed) from 11-12.30pm, feel free to join Sue Ann, myself (0422152040) and a few others in worship and prayer, even if you can pop by for just 10 minutes. It'll be at the campus center basement in a piano room.

Have a good rest of the week possums!

Love, Faith!

Hello to sem two!

Hello dear OCFers!

Was getting back grades for sem one shocking for anyone? Haha. How did the past two weeks of holidays go by for you? Hopefully, you had fun and are well rested, all ready to start a new semester!

The day after Winter Camp (how many of you were blessed by it! Big round of applause to the comm and GOD!), some of us packed our bags and flew off the Sydney for Hillsong conference, which was good! The trip was fun, but now I'm thinking - oh no, school's starting in just two days! I am so not ready! On the other hand, I'm also glad for the semester to start - new beginnings, new things - what is God going to do this sem? In sem two, we're having stuff like E-night and mission trips - loads to participate in to make an IMPACT on our Clayton campus! So hey, let's get excited ya?

For the next week, what's happening:

Orientation
21 July, Tuesday, 11am - 3pm
We have a booth at the campus center, so do pop by to help and at least say hello if you can! It's a time
to take the very first step of REACHING OUT to fellow students, especially new ones who might be feeling a bit lost, or finding a Christian club, or looking for some place to call "home" and "family"! So come be a part of reaching out yeps? If you can be there, do let me know (chinzjinghui@gmail.com/0422152040).

Welcome night
24 July, Friday, 7pm
Friday night OCF starts again! Yay! More details on this coming soon :D

Play hard these last two days, and get some good sleep before school starts on Monday! And one more thing - something to share:

One of the things I've been asking God recently is - God, how can I be aligned with your purposes for OCF Clayton next semester? What do you want me to do? And I've been taking time to listen. I encourage you to do the same. Our theme verse says -

"The Spirit of the Lord is on me,
because He has anointed me to preach good news to the poor.
He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners
and recovery of sight for the blind.
To release the oppressed,
to proclaim the year of the Lord's favour" (Luke 4:18-19).

Sometimes this might sound a bit extreme - proclaim freedom for prisoners? Proclaim recovery of sight for the blind? But do take a look at every day life; in essence, these verses are saying - God is with me. How may I shine His light?

Perhaps take some time to ask and listen - God, what did you put me in Melbourne, in Clayton, for? How can I be Your "hands and feet", to make an IMPACT for your kingdom?

In His gracious love,
Faith (:
See you soon!

OCF Clayton; press on! :D

Haluo awesome Claytonites!

Now, how many of you are chanting,
I can do this, I can do this, I can do this, or
Just a bit more, just a bit more. The holidays will be here soon, c'mon... or
I! NEED! MORE! TIMEEEEEE!!!!!!!

Ha. Well, whichever it is, press on! The end is near :D So everyone, be good and study well just for a while more! Then, after two weeks of (official) holidays, the next semester begins again - more studying! Whoohoo! Muahaha. Heh. Sorry if I was a killjoy there for a moment! Just needed my bit of fun :D But ya really, PRESS ON.

Okay, my nonsense aside...some of us have had papers already and well, hope they went alright! Let's turn our eyes to other things for a moment, ehs?

Exam prayer at Narthex (religious center) every morning (9.30 - 10.30)
We've been gathering daily (weekdays) to pray for those having exams, amongst other stuff, and it has been great! It's been encouraging to see quite a number of us come to seek God first thing in the morning even though it may sometimes be tough to wake early and even walk in the morning rain on some days. But in the end, it's worth starting the day right with an hour in God's presence, with His people! In a way, it is also about putting others before ourselves as we spend that time worshipping God in song, and interceding for others! So come join us okay? And see what you're missing out on! :P

Know that you're not alone in this exams. We're praying for you, everyday!

Blessing ministry
Went well! Our cakes ran out pretty fast. Thank you to all who came! We may have shivered in the cold evenings, and sometimes things like that may seem itsy and insignificant, but you know, everything counts in the kingdom of God. Through blessing ministry, we were loving people through serving them (:

Home groups on Friday
Your cell group leaders will update you on what's going on!

Winter camp registration
What are you waiting for? Sign up now! From what God has birthed in the hearts of the comm, I believe this is going to be a camp where God will refresh and challenge us - to be ready because I believe. To sign up, follow the instructions at Ezpz manz. Hope to see you there, with the friend you're going to bring along to share this goodness with! :D

-

Press on with the mugging. Don't let all that info fry your brains too much. Remember to take a breather.

God says, "my grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness" (2 Corinthians 12:9). In times when we are weak, that is where God shows His power through the grace that He gives you, which enables you to go through and do things, some-how (I like to say, God-how)!

I know and believe this - we can do all things through Christ who gives us strength (:

In His ever-present love,
Faith!

Okay back to doing my essay...

Exam prayer + Blessing ministry

Don't know if anyone reads this, but I'm going to blog this anyway! Maybe this blog will revive and be useful some day :P

We had our first prayer session for this exam session earlier this morning! 9.30am at Narthex at Religious Center (round building between campus center and matheson library). Sometimes we need to just take the focus off ourselves, and fix our eyes upon Him, and also look at and pray for the needs of others ya? So that's what we did this morning, and it was refreshing! After that we headed to Grain Express at the campus center for breakfast and talked a lot before remembering that exams were coming up so it would be a good idea to study :P

It's always good to be in His presence and among His people!

There was blessing ministry after, with the Gila Gila Galatians and On-Corians (or Coryberries) and it was good! In a way, thank God it was drizzling because that meant we could "set up shop" nearer the library's doors and hence were a bit nearer to the warmth in the library.

Okays hope to see you tomorrow! This prayer thing is on till the last day of exams! So come join us! (:

It's Swot Vac, have a Big Mac!

Hey beloved friends,

How good was it to gather together for our final time last Friday?! =) we hope that God has empowered you to face the next 20 days of studying and exams. but like we shared, exams come and go, but OCF does NOT go to sleep! we've got an eternal mission here! =)

OCF DURING SWOT VAC

Blessing Ministry at Matheson Library (5-7pm)
Monday : enCOR & Gila-gila Galatians
Tuesday : Cocopops & The Onion Titans
Wednesday : StarPHIsh & Hippie Ephes

How does making coffee create a loving IMPACT? Well when Christ comes again, the righteous will answer him, "Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink?" ... The King will reply "I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me." Matt 25:40.
*Also, coffee-making skills is a PLUS++ in life, boys and girls! =)

Exam Prayer at Narthex every morning (9.30 - 10.30)
Let's start our day the right way! An hour in God's presence will do wonders for your other 10 hours of studying. Each one of us, let's devote this time to Him, saying "God, come what may, i'm here at 9.30 every morning to meet with You, come and meet with me." So see you there, you'll be blessed! =)

Home groups on Fridays
Your cell group leaders will update you on what's going on! So go, enjoy and relax with each other! =)

OCF HIGHLIGHTS

Winter Camp Registration - still OPEN!
Don't miss out, sign up for Winter Camp now! If you're coming, bring a friend along! That friend you brought to FOF? Let's continue to reach out to them in love. When you sign up, you're saying YES to an awesome time of experiencing God, enjoying each other and having abundant good food! =)

Winter camp 2009

Check it out here!

Week 13

Hey warriors,

*Please come out from under those books for a minute..* =)

It's finally here! WEEK THIRTEEN! We're getting closer and closer to our exams, but that also means that we're nearing our eagerly-expected holidays and also the super-duper Winter Camp in July! So let's march into this with heads held up high, higher than the mountain before us. All because we know that if God is on our side, then who can be against us?

THIS WEEK AT OCF **drum roll**
· Special guest speaker - Jensen Ma!
He is the dear advisor of OCF Melbourne, and is coming to speak on "The Cross : It's meaning and power". WOW! You don't wanna miss out on such a significant revelation! We're also having a CELEBRATION after that, so remember to wear your Cell Colour Code, and see you bright and early! R3, 7pm. (Prayer meet at 6.20pm).

· Winter Camp - ARE.YOU.COMING?!
Come on guys, Winter Camp only visits us once a year. Let's not pass on this opportunity to draw closer to Him, and also to enjoy each other with much fun and food (home cooked with honey and love!). Also, bring a friend along (how bout that friend you brought to FOF?). We're praying to see hearts moved and lives changed at camp. So see you there! =) 3-5 July, only $70.

· Weekly OCF prayer.
Every week, we set aside an hour to come together to pray and to encourage each other. Do join us if you have a free lunch break, as we stand in the gap for our brothers and sisters!
Wednesday 12 - 1pm at Narthex, Religious Centre
Friday 3.30 - 4.30pm at Piano Rooms, Campus Centre Basement

OCF DURING EXAMS

· Blessing Ministry during Swot Vac (5-7pm)
Swot Vac is a time where people stress the most, so let us share the peace and love of God with everyone, blessing them with some steaming hot coffee/chocolate and cookies as they walk in and out of the library. Two cell groups will work together each night, so check with your leaders! =)

· Exam Prayer every morning (9.30 - 10.30)
Starting next Monday, we'll be coming together every morning to pray - what better way to start your day?! The Word of God says, "Do not be anxious about anything (your exams), but in everything.. present your requests to God.. and the peace of God.. will guard your hearts and minds.." Phil 4:6

· Home groups on Fridays
We will no longer meet in R3, but in your respective home groups during the exam period. Cozy little home groups. Approach cell group leaders for more details! =)

Awesome! =) Before i leave, wanna share something with you. OCF Clayton appeared on Malaysian news! YAAHEEY! Be encouraged, that could be YOU in 20 years. So yes, it's all worth it. Studying for exams, honouring God, loving people.. All worth for His kingdom! =)

Week 12

Hey beloved Claytonites! =)

Hope all of us had fun at FOF on Friday! Did your friends enjoy it too? Heard of all the FUNKY games - colourful bums, mouthful-salivating biscuits, weird-wacko cultures, and who knows what else! =) Nonetheless, i am sure that we broke the comfort and that God's love radiated through each of us that night. Wow! =)

[if you couldn't make it, don't miss out anymore. come join us on Fridays!]

OCF THIS FRIDAY

BIBLE STUDY 7 (FINALE)
Yes that’s right! We’ve reached the end of our study of Faith (the substance, not the person). What an amazing journey it has been! Let’s conclude the chapter together, as we share and learn from each other on how to run the Race of Faith. To finish this race well as we fix our eyes on Jesus!
:: Friday at 7pm (Pre-OCF prayer starts at 6.20pm)
:: R 3

WINTER CAMP REGISTRATION
If you have not signed up, don’t wait any longer! Winter Camp is gonna be an awesome time, spent with God and each other. A time where God leads us to greater heights, deepens our love, and challenges our passion! If you’re coming, bring a friend along. If you’re not, bring yourself along! =)

:: 3 – 5 July 2009
:: Mt Morton, Belgrave
:: BE ready BEcause I BElieve (Theme from 1 Peter 3:15)
:: $ 70 only!

THIS WEEK AT A GLANCE

UNITED PRAYER
It is a time when all Monash Christian Clubs (Student Life, Christian Union, etc) come together to pray, for our campus, our friends, and for anything, really. It is also the finale of the 40 Days of prayer and fasting. So come, and let’s join our hands and hearts in prayer!
Monday :: 25 May :: 5-7 pm :: R3

OCF PRAYER
The best place to be when we’re feeling tired and discouraged is at the feet of Jesus. Let’s set aside an hour this week to pray and worship together as Claytonites, because prayer does the things our hands cannot do! I’ve always left the room feeling more energized and encouraged, knowing that we’re standing together in all of this. See you there!
Wednesday :: 12 – 1 pm :: Narthex, Religious Centre
Friday :: 3.30 – 4.30 pm :: Piano Room, Campus Centre Basement

Just a note of encouragement before leaving for bed. The semester is almost at its end, but instead of slowing down or being heavy-burdened, let’s pick up the pace with our God. For in times of toughness, God’s strength is revealed. And truly, He’ll bring us through with His grace. Just as we sang the other day “From hands and feet that were nailed to the tree, as grace flows down it covers me”. Let’s stay covered, under His wings, His shelter. Okay? See you soon! =)

Stay awesome for our awesome God,
Ivie =)

Easter break week

Hello awesome OCFers!

Hope this finds you well and happy that there’s no school for a whole week!

From Friday to Monday, 40+ of us were at OCF Victoria’s Easter Camp! I don’t know how exactly you felt about it, but I do believe that each one of us who went gained something, be it from the fellowship, God, the speaker, the food, games or whatever else. Personally, I thought centre sharing every night was one of the best parts :)

There is great UNITY among us as we all are bound together in “one Lord, one faith, one baptism, and one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all” (Ephesians 4:5)! I was encouraged to see so many of you newer OCFers at camp, and enjoying it and being so comfortable with everyone else! You know, there is just so much POTENTIAL in all you guys and I believe there is a hunger in each one of us.

It is my prayer that we will continually seek God and long for more of Him! As we do so with all our heart, we will find Him and get to know more of Him and fall even more in love with Him (Jeremiah 29:12-14) as we realise how MUCH He means to us, and how worthy He is of all our praise and adoration! Let’s even remember to worship God with our minds, so we may know His good, pleasing and perfect will (Romans 12:2 – camp theme!), so that we can, In His Presence, ACT on what He calls us to! That’s IMPACT, btw – the OCF Clayton 2009 theme. In case you forgot! :D haha.

Okays now, some updates...

Games day – Saturday, 18 April

Games day at Jell’s Park (aka nice, happy, green, big space to have fun in!)
Meet 12noon. We’ll end at about 3ish.
At Robert Blackwood hall in Monash Uni, and we’ll head there together.

It’s basically cell-based games (competition!) and um if I remember correctly, there’ll be free food too! Feel free to bring friends, especially those who went for the Ballarat Wildlife Park trip but don’t join regular OCF sessions. Please contact your cell leader to inform of your attendance.

Also, no Leading Edge session this week. We’ll inform you of the next session soon!

Planetshakers conference – Wed (today) + Thu (tmr)

The Planetshakers conference is on! Some of us OCFers have been going for the full conference, with more joining at night for the free night rally. The atmosphere is great! The presence of God is there and we’ve been really blessed by the freedom in the worship and empowering teachings of great men and women of God.

7.30pm at Hisense Arena (short 10 min walk from Richmond station)
FREE entry. Bring friends!
Call Ivie/Faith for enquiries. We’ll help you book seats or give necessary directions too! Find out more at http://www.planetshakers.com/conf09/index.php

Ivie and myself encourage you to come with your friends for the next two night sessions to receive and be refreshed and rejuvenated by God. We really believe this is something beneficial for everyone!

Monash Uni Clayton campus prayer and fasting

Last year, a movement began in our uni; a movement where all the Christian groups on campus got together and prayed and fasted for 40 days because we wanted to see more of Christ on our campus. We’ll be doing it again this year! Isn’t it great to be able to take part in furthering God’s kingdom! We really want to be united as one as Christians on campus despite coming from different backgrounds and clubs, and claim this campus for Christ, amen?! More details coming soon.

And last thing…

Happy birthday to these people!
Isaac (Wednesday) - Isaac who did his 540 degree turn during the mm-chee-chee game at camp!
Ellis (Thursday)
Joanne (Friday)
Joshua (Saturday)

Sorry this is so long :/ I tend to type a lot :D See you all on Saturday at noon!

In His neverfailing love,
Faith :)

E-Weekly

Hello Claytonites!

Hope this email finds you well! You're most probably looking forward to the upcoming one week break! :D

Remember the Digging Deeper part of last Friday's Bible Study on Spiritual Gifts? If you're keen to find out your spiritual gift, check out http://www.churchgrowth.org/cgi-cg/gifts.cgi?intro=1. It's a questionnaire, but note that it is not comprehensive and 100% accurate because it's just a simple one, and the only one I could find free online! A good way of discovering your spiritual gift is through affirmation from people - if different people tell you you have a certain gift, you most probably do :)

Anyways, there's no usual OCF this week *gasp*! But instead, we have EASTER CAMP! Yaaay! It's this Friday to Sunday at Portsea - http://www.theportseacamp.com.au/ and I believe it is going to be AWESOME. Don't miss out on this guys. We have a great speaker, great location, and you'll get to meet new friends from other unis. If you're afraid of being new, don't be! I was new when I went last year too, but I made fast friends (and then suddenly I had 30 more friends on facebook. um something like that). If you're worried about the assignments due after the break, well - play hard for 4 days, still have 6 days to work hard!

For those of you who have already signed up, let me encourage you to come hungry. Matthew 5:6 says, "Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled". Also, remember the story of the Pentecost in Acts 2? The people were hungrily waiting in the room, waiting for what Jesus promised would come. And when the day of Pentecost came, God came, and He poured out His Spirit, in response to that hunger to people who were ready for Him.

The hungrier you are, the more you will be filled.
The more you are filled, the more satisfied you will be.
Are you ready for God to fill you?
Come hungry, come expectant.

And. Bug your friends to come if you believe this is going to be good. Bug bug buuug.

UPCOMING
